Welcoming Fall...

Last post in August, which means it's September and that means fall is around the corner in my part of the world. I guess I always associated September with the fall season because of school. School means summer is over. The equation September + school = fall season! I don't know about you but I LOVE fall. It has so many wonderful aspects to it. I can't wait the 20 or so days till fall is technically here so I'm making a post today.

To me fall represents a time of change...as spring to most represents a time of re-birth. In fall we see changes from leaves changing color to the weather becoming colder/rainier. I also see warm sweaters to cozy up in and tea to sip on.Then there are the pumpkins to adore...and the gourds in all their shapes and sizes.Who can forget the fall harvest...including cranberries...yum!We are lucky enough to have a Cranberry Farm in our area. I checked it out a couple weeks ago after blueberry picking. They had the most delicious cranberries I have ever tasted! I am going to buy some of there fresh cranberries once they are harvested this September. I am so excited!

Speaking of fall harvests, our garden is starting to grow, grow, grow! And check out the cold frame my hubby built. He designed it this way so that our vegetables could grow taller with the cold frame still on, plus it opens and closes really easily. The only problem we had today was a little bit of rain water pooling on one side. I caught it before anything happened.

My garden has changed incredibly in a matter of a couple weeks. It's amazing how fast these little one's can grow. They have doubled there size since I planted them! In the front of this picture is broccoli, to the left is kale and in the very back is butter and romaine lettuce. I still have to plant my spinach. I need to get on that!

Change is really hard for lots of people including myself. I'm not a huge fan although I don't mind small changes here and there. It's when a bunch of things change all at once that can make it hard to deal with. Maybe that is why squash, gourds and pumpkins are all at their peak that time of the year. Comfort food, hello :)

This September will be a bit of a change for our family, because my guy is going back to school. Just to finish up a few classes and then he graduates with his degree. He hasn't been in school for a few years now, so this will be a huge adjustment for him. As for myself and my little one it will be an adjustment too, meaning we won't see him as much and also having to give him quiet time to do homework. I think this change will be good for us. My guy will be able to complete something he has been wanting to for a long time and we can move forward in our lives together.

Now go enjoy the last 20 days of summer and ask yourself what changes are happening in your life this Fall season?

Awwws, your garden looks so cute :). I like your picture with your moon and sun mirror. I'm happy about fall season coming around as well. It means I can bake more comfort food and not be killed by the heat. I can wear my fall clothes that are comfy. Also means, October time no longer a teen and thanksgiving and Halloween, those are always fun times :)

Thanks! The garden is growing and changing so fast. Every day it looks bigger to me :) Yes the moon/sun mirror I hung on our fence near the garden. There is a large one that is seen in the photo and 2 small versions of it as well :)

I also love wearing fall clothes, sweaters, pants, SCARVES! hehe Lil one wants to be Thomas the Train again this Halloween, but this time he says he doesn't need to wear the hat, so it will be different lol. I'm thinking of going as an train engineer, I bet I could find something at Value Village or another 2nd hand store :)

I love pumpkins! Fall is a great time of year... but I wish summer would last longer. ;)

So, that cold frame thing your man made is awesome. What is the top made out of? Very nice.

Change. No, not a fan. Well, at least not life changing change. I am about to embark on some MAJOR change- good and bad- and I don't know if I'm quite ready for it, nor if I can handle it, but I guess it's needed either way. Rambling, but yeah, changing of the seasons may bring about some good to come, right?

:)

Thanks Lori! My guy used 2x4's to make the frame and the plastic we used was a vapour barrier greenhouse plastic. He attached some 2x2's to the ends of the vapour barrier to hold it down and make it easy to roll up. I was out when he made it, so i was super thrilled when I came home to see his awesome design!

Hopefully the season will bring about more good change than bad. I know what you mean though usually with major changes there is a adjustment period you have to deal with and that isn't always fun. Wish you the best Lori! :) xoxo

I *cannot* wait for Fall!! I love everything about it..the hoodies, cooler weather, cozy food, family, holiday season kick off..ahhh I'm so excited!! :D

But unfortunately, Mother Nature's refusing the follow the calendar and has been sending 90+ degree weather our way again. :/

I'm totally with you on all your like's about fall! Ever since I can remember I'd always start dressing for fall weather to soon! lol I'd get stuck at school and it would suddenly be 90 degrees out! lol

Your still getting summer weather, which I bet most ppl would be totally envious of :) We had a really mild summer this year compared to last. I put on the heat a couple times in the morning already just to warm it up for a few minutes. Take the chill off. Atleast you'll have a cheaper electricity bill, unless you have AC hehe :)

WOW! I'm really wondering if we were separated at birth or something! LOL! Fall is my absolute favorite season. Ever. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, even superseding Christmas. Here the mornings have went from warm to chilly; there is a crispness in the air that tickles the nose and reminds me of walking to school those first school days of the year. The climate here doesn't yield many red leaves, but the shades of rust and the crackle of leaves under my feet thrill my senses.
I better go to the basement and get my autumn decorations out...

LOL, I know what you mean I was just thinking the other day about how much we have in common :) I enjoy Thanksgiving more than Christmas too. I like that idea of giving thanks for the harvest we each bring in every year. This year i'm going to provide the broccoli and kale! lol Fall has such a feel to it, like you said the crispness in the air..it's so refreshing and feels like a fresh start :) I can't wait either, i'm already asking my lil one what he wants to be for halloween!
